Double Door Yearlong Fifteenth Anniversary Celebration

Chicago, IL, 3/4/2009 – This summer marks Double Door’s 15-year anniversary, and the club has lined up a series of special events to celebrate throughout the entire year. These exclusive shows will feature many of the artists who have helped shape the club over the years.

Double Door, located in the heart of Chicago’s Wicker Park. The premier club has hosted thousands of artists since their first two shows June 12, and 13th, 1994 featuring Lloyd Cole—who was setting up his gear while the building’s paint was still drying.

Over the last 15 years, a plethora of diverse musicians have performed at Double Door, both on the national and local scale. The mainstream artists who have graced the concert hall’s stage include The Rolling Stones, The Roots, Tenacious D, Kid Rock, Macy Gray, Joan Jett, Bush, The Cranberries, John Legend, Fountains of Wayne, Our Lady Peace, Kings of Leon, Richard Ashcroft, Common, Michelle Branch, Damian Marley, and Henry Rollins.

Keeping up with the fast-paced music industry, Double Door continues to break new talent and works with major and independent record labels, as well as Chicago’s  top promoters. In addition to national acts, hundreds of emerging musicians and local talent launched their booming careers on Double Door’s stage, including Local H, The Smashing Pumpkins, Disturbed, Rise Against, Rachael Yamagata, and Kill Hannah.

Double Door has also hosts parties and events for major business, MTV, VH-1, and Rolling Stone Magazine, as well as numerous local benefits and fundraisers for area musical, cultural, political, educational, and charitable organizations.
